This is a photograph album compiled by John Dieter during his military service in World War II beginning with training camp at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. Additional subjects include the activities of the U.S. Third Army in European Theater of Operations, concentration camps, troops engaged in combat, liberated towns, captured enemy forces and civilian and military casualties. Ephemera, informal snapshots, and picture postcards of Europe are also included in the album. A portrait of General George S. Patton and memorial items relating to his death and funeral are also included.

George Smith Patton Jr. (November 11, 1885 – December 21, 1945) was a general of the United States Army who commanded the Seventh United States Army in the Mediterranean theater of World War II, and the United States Army Central in France and Germany after the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
